16. Keeping the bolts and centuring fixture in place, slide the
outer conductor of section 1 to allow the bolts to pass through
its flange. Butt the flange against the centering fixture, taking
care that the O-rings are not displaced. Use a hand-tightened
nut on each bolt to secure the flanges. 17. Return to the damaged inner conductor end and attach the repair tool (#220417) except for the clamp. Attach plate 1 of the repair tool to the flange using the hardware provided. Attach the threaded rods to plate 1, 90° to each other, |
and then attach plate 2 about 8 inches (203 mm) in front of and
parallel to plate 1. Install the strain insulator on the broken
inner conductor, flat side toward plate 2, by rotating the
insulator clockwise. 18. Rotate the strain insulator against plate 2 to extend the inner conductor driver ring of section 1 partially outside the flange, just far enough to allow insertion of the clamp. (The holes in the driver ring need to be about 0.25 inch (6 mm) in front of the flange). |
