2. Apply force, by hand, to bend the outer conductor against
the channel radius. Bend the cable gradually to cause the
contact between the outer conductor and channel to progress
slowly and uniformly from the starting point toward the
stopping point. CAUTION: AVOID KINKING THE CABLE OUTER CONDUCTOR. Space 4 (or more) people at 2-ft (610 m) intervals, starting at the point of contact between the cable and channel. Push on the cable, moving it slowly and uniformly against the channel. As the bending proceeds, move along the cable length (maintaining the intervals specified above). 3. Since the form channel is approximately 12 ft (3.6 m) in length, the stop point may not be reached. If so, mark the cable with tape at the point where it contacts the end of the form channel. 4. Release the cable. The section of cable bent against the fixture is now formed in the required radius. NOTE: The form channel radius is smaller than 20 ft (610 m) to account for the spring-back action that occurs after the cable section is released. |
5. Remove the clamp plate. If the stop point was not reached,
reclamp the cable section to the bending fixture, using the tape
applied in Step 3 as the new start point for the bend. 6. Repeat Steps 1 through 5 until the end point of the bend is reached. 3.5.5 Shutdown When installation work is discontinued on a run of transmission line, attach the high voltage/pressure cap (#221602) to the ANT end of the last installed section. At the end of the day's work, close all lines as described above and check each transmission line installation by performing a high-voltage test (see Section 6.1). After completing the test, pressurize and purge the line throughout the night. A positive pressure up to a maximum value of 10 psig (70 kPa) should be used. The next day, release the line pressure, remove the high voltage/pressure cap, and continue with the installation. |
