Read the Following Instructions Thoroughly
Before Unloading, Storing, and Hoisting

1. Unload Antenna from Truck

The antenna is fastened with cable tie-downs and trunnion bolts to a skid (platform). The antenna-skid assembly must be unloaded from the truck and placed on level ground before these fasteners are removed. The steel skid (48660) has openings for either a fork lift vehicle or crane straps.

If a fork lift vehicle is to be used, as shown in Figure 1, it must be capable of lifting 2500 lbs (940 kg). The skid has for lift openings 3.5" (89 mm) high, 11.5" (292 mm) wide, and separated by 54.5" (1385 mm). Caution: Do not use the fork lift vehicle on the rear side of the antenna because this can cause damage to the antenna. Use the vehicle on the front side of the antenna only as shown in Figure 1.

If a crane is to be used, as shown in Figure 2, it must be capable of lifting 2500 lbs (940 kg) when its boom is extended 15 ft (4.6 m). Make a lifting sling with two nylon straps that are at least 34 ft (10.4 m) long. Feed one strap through one of the fork lift openings and the other strap through the tube at the end of the skid. Then connect the strap ends to the crane hook. Make sure that the antenna-skid assembly hangs horizontally during unloading.

After the antenna is unloaded, remove the remaining items from the truck such as the antenna support ring and hardware kits.

2. Temporary Storage Precautions

The antenna must be protected from damage by severe winds if it is to be stored outdoors temporarily after unloading from the truck. Make sure that the following precautionary measures are taken:

  • Place the antenna-skid assembly on level ground.
