The below instructions refer to version 2 of the Marvosym
Type1 font as of 2000-05-01.

The directory name "texmf" refers to

    /usr/local/vtex/texmf  (with VTeX/Lnx)
or  
    <drive>:\texmf         (with VTeX/2)
  

(1)
Copy the Type1 font file file marvosym.pfb to the directory

    texmf/fonts/type1/public/marvosym
  
(2)
Copy the Type1 font metrics file marvosym.afm to

    texmf/fonts/afm/public/marvosym
  
(3)
Copy the TeX font metrics file fmvr8x.tfm to 

    texmf/fonts/tfm/public/marvosym/
  
(4)
Copy the font map file marvosym.ali to 

    texmf/vtex/config
    
(5)
Add an entry for the above font map to the section TYPE1 of
the configuration files pdf.fm and ps.fm, which reside in
the directory texmf/vtex/config :

    TYPE1 {
      ...
      marvosym.ali
      }

Copy the style file marvosym.sty to a TeX input directory,
e.g.
    texmf/tex/latex/misc
