Bus-Tech's award winning products are distributed through OEM and Channel Partners. Our products, including our PCI Channel Interfaces, can be integrated utilizing our standard drivers for TCP/IP, SNA, CTC, and Tape. These interfaces can also be customized to meet your particular needs.
Why Bus-Tech?
On board intelligence means a more efficient solution! All of Bus-Tech's products are based on "intelligent" host adapters. This means that the actual mainframe control unit emulation runs directly on the processor of the adapter, rather than residing and executing on the operating system of the host server. Details
The adapters are capable of responding to any of 256 sub-channel addresses. The emulation firmware runs directly on the adapter's on board processor chip. Because of this design, the CPU of the host is only involved with data block transfers and not running the actual emulation, resulting in minimal interruptions to the PCI host system. Which makes our card the fastest, least intrusive mainframe connection available today.
These adapters allow servers to attach directly to the channel of an IBM or compatible mainframe system. The result is a tight coupling of these two environments, eliminating unnecessary LAN hops, bypassing Front End Processors, and providing for the fastest possible link from server to mainframe.
Bus-Tech has been a major supplier of IBM connectivity to virtually every major player in mainframe computer hardware market.
Flexible development options:
You have the option to work directly with Bus-Tech development personnel to provide unique solutions or take on the project yourself. In the latter case, we will supply you with our API specifications, samples of existing emulations and be available to answer any and all of your questions to help you reach your goal.
Control Unit Emulations - This is a partial list of various emulations we have developed.
- 3172 - this emulation, also known as LAN Channel Station (LCS) or 8232, provides a "Pass Through" for exchanging data between a mainframe and a LAN/WAN via the TCP/IP protocol.
- 3174 - this emulation is the basis for SNA communications. We have implemented this to provide direct channel attachment of the most popular SNA gateway products: Microsoft's SNA Server, IBM's Communications Server for Windows and Novell's NetWare for SAA.
- 3480/3490 - this mainframe tape emulation can be used to attach external , inexpensive SCSI or Fiber channel tape drives or SILOS to a mainframe. This can also be used as a transport mechanism for high-speed mainframe to server file transfers.
- 3088 - this mainframe "channel-to-channel" protocol is used extensively on a number of implementations. Its basic Input/Output architecture makes it an ideal protocol for custom implementations.
- TCP/IP Direct Connect - this unique emulation provides for a tight coupling of Windows NT/2000 to a mainframe environment. This is an ideal solution to provide high-speed mainframe based information to NT/2000 based application servers.
- 3211 - this emulation is designed to power intelligent printer solution in the mainframe space.
- Other - our engineering staff stands ready to assist OEM customers to develop specific emulations to meet your exact requirements.
Drivers - We offer extensive experience in developing device drivers in support of our various emulations. These include, but are not limited to:
- NetWare
- Windows NT/2000
- Unix (UnixWare, Solaris, Tru64, AIX)
- Linux
- Embedded NT
Bus Architectures / Channel Type
- PCI - ESCON, Bus & Tag (and soon FICON)
