Description

This shield is designed to reduce side-lobe radiation
levels of high performance, parabolic antennas. The
instructions given in this bulletin apply to shields
for antennas with diameters of 1.8 meters (6 ft), 2.4
meters (8 ft), 3 meters (10 ft), and 3.7 meters (12 ft).


Notice

The installation, maintenance or removal of antenna
systems requires qualified, experienced personnel.
Andrew installation instructions have been written for
such installation personnel. Antenna systems should
be inspected once a year by qualified personnel to
verify proper installation, maintenance and condition
of equipment.

improper or unsafe installation practices.
Tools

Standard hand tools can be used for this installation
A ratchet and deep well wrench sockets are recommended.
However, combination wrenches, box or open-end
type, may be used. Wrench sizes for the furnished
bolt hardware are as follows:

16-17 mm M10
Other tools include:
Two large standard blade head screwdrivers
Four large Phillips head screwdrivers
One pair of slip joint pliers


Area and Personnel Requirments

Allow as much flat terrain as possible to assemble
the shield, typically four or five times the diameter
of the antenna.

Use the following values to determine how many people
will be needed to lift the shield assembly onto the
reflector.
