Loosely attach an antenna mounting ring bolt, lock washer, and nut to both elevation hinge brackets and the elevation eyebolt U-bracket. Then loosely attach both elevation hinge brackets to the mount and flanges, adding the azimuth U-bracket to one of the brackets as shown in Figure 4. Attach the elevation eyebolt U-bracket to the elevation eyebolt. Tighten the U-bracket and hinge bracket bolts only enough to allow for elevation adjustment. Attach the elevation eyebolt to the long mounting channel with the adjustment hardware as shown in the detail of Figure 4. Position the mounting channel at the midpoint of the elevation eyebolt threads. Position the mount on the antenna mounting ring in either of the two positions shown in Figure 5. The position used depends on the clearance needed for the feed components and connections. Attach the three elevation hinge brackets to the antenna mounting ring with the mounting ring bolts and tighten the bolts. attaching J-bolts and the strap closest to its top is wrapped with red tape. Caution: DO NOT FOLD the RADOME when storing it because this may damage it; store the radome rolled up and in its original shipping container. Unpack the radome and J-bolt hardware. Add a spring, flat washer, and nut to each J-bolt if the J-bolts do not already have them. Position the nut within 1" (25 mm) of the end of the J-bolt. Hook the J-bolts into the J-bolt brackets of the shield, refering to Figure 6. Insert the J-bolt rods into the J-bolt straps and add plastic caps to retain the rods. Then press pieces of flexible trim onto the shield ring. A portion of the trim has been removed in places where it will fit around the shield joints. Cut off excess trim so that the ends meet. Spread the radome over the shield and align the J-bolt straps with the J-bolt brackets on the shield. The red tape marking the top of the radome must be visible and in line with the red stripes on the shield and relector. Hook the J-bolts onto the radome J-bolt rods, progressing in one direction around the radome. Tighten the J-bolts on either side of the last few J-bolt connections to ease making these connections. All of the springs should be under slight compression and approximately 7" (178 mm) long. If not, tighten those that require it to achieve uniform lengths. Tighten the J-bolt nuts to achieve a spring length of 6-1/2" (165 mm). Progress in one direction around the shield. Repeat the adjustment to achieve uniform spring length. Then, add a jam nut to each J-bolt and tighten it against the adjustment nut to lock the nuts together. |
