Antenna Angle
Adjustment Kit

for High-Wind SHX® Super High Performance Antenna*
Bulletin 237094

Description

This kit includes side wheels, hold-down wheels, ratchet turnbuckles, and A-325 (tensioning) hardware for azimuth and elevation adjustments of the SHX antenna. The proper tensioning procedure for A-325 hardware used on the hold-down clips is given separately. Installation instructions for all parts related to azimuth and elevation are included to better understand the adjustment procedures.

Caution: Antenna adjustments should not be made if winds are greater than 25 miles per hour (40 kilometers per hour) to avoid possible damage. Do not leave the adjustment kit in place and do not loosen or remove any hold-down clips if the antenna is to be left unattended.

Notice

The installation, maintenance or removal or antenna system requires qualified, experienced personnel. Andrew installation instructions have been written for such personnel. Antenna systems should be inspected once a year by qualified personnel to verify proper installation, maintenance and condition of equipment.

Andrew disclaims any liability or responsiblity for the results of improper or unsafe installation practices.

Read the Following Instructions
Thoroughly Before Assembly

1. Install Azimuth and Elevation Parts

Side Wheels: Four 6" (152 mm) side wheels are attached to the base assembly and against the support ring assembly to keep these assemblies concentric during azimuth adjustments.

Attach these wheels to the wheel plates with 7/8" x 4-1/2" (114 mm) bolts, flat washers, spacers, and nuts. Then attach the wheel plates to the top of the base assembly with 5/8" x 2" (51 mm) bolts and nuts (A-325 hardware) as shown in Figure 1. Tighten the wheel plate bolts only after all four wheels are attached and are against the support ring assembly in its best concentric position.

Do not tension wheel plate bolts according to the tensioning procedure for A-325 hardware -- bolts that have been tensioned cannot be reused, and this assembly may be removed later.

When final azimuth adjustments are completed and hold-down clips are tensioned, the side wheel assemblies can be removed for use on another antenna if desired.

Hold-down Clips: Eight hold-down clips are used to lock the base assembly and the support ring assembly together during installation and after final azimuth adjustments. See Figure 2. Four of the clips are notched and stamped 499259. The other four clips are stamped 49260. Notched clips are used where, because of azimuth position, there may be interference from gusset plates located under pivot brackets.

Attach the clips with 5/8" x 2-1/4" (57 mm) bolts (A-325 hardware), flat washers, beveled washers, nuts, and Palnuts. Place the beveled washers on top of the clips and bolt heads underneath as shown in Figure 2. Tighten the bolts,
