Installation Instructions Type 207430 Vent Valve Kit for Horn Antennas |
Bulletin 237054 |
The valve has two parts, a vent fitting and a leakage stem. The vent fitting can be used without the leakage stem to purge the antenna of moist air. With the leakage stem installed in the vent fitting, a controlled leak rate of 0.5 standard cubic feet per hour at a system pressure of 5 inches of water is provided. Refer to Figure 4 for flow rates at other pressures. Thoroughly Before Assembly 1. Drill a 1/8" (3 mm) pilot hole in the antenna at the location in Figure 1; the antenna must be under pressure. Use a variable speed drill at a low speed to reduce the entry of loose particles into the antenna. |
2. Enlarge the pilot hole with the "W" drill bit and variable
speed drill at low speed. 3. Screw the vent fitting into the hole as shown in Figure 2 and tighten it with a 9/16" wrench. The fitting will thread itself into the antenna and form a seal. Alternately, a 1/8 NPT standard pipe tap can be used to cut threads for the vent fitting for installations where access to this area of the antenna is limited. 4. Screw the leakage stem into the vent fitting and finger-tighten. Then attach the chain on the stem to the chain clip on the vent fitting and apply the label. Refer to Figures 2 and 3. |
