Editor's Note: Minutes received 12/21/92 CURRENT_MEETING_REPORT_ Reported by Steve Alexander/INTERACTIVE Systems Minutes of the TELNET Working Group (TELNET) The Telnet Working Group met on November 17th in Washington. We discussed Ted Ts'o's changes to the Kerberos V document, and they were received favorably. Steve Alexander will produce a new draft of the Kerberos V document by year's end. The Group then discussed delegation of privileges via the authentication mechanism. Most of the discussion centered on whether or not privileges could be delegated in subsets or whether delegation should be all or nothing. No consensus was reached, and Cliff Neuman said he would investigate this further on his own. The remainder of the discussion was about whether or not delegation should be a generic feature of the authentication mechanism or done in mechanism specific ways, since not all authentication protocols support delegation. It was decided that delegation should be handled by the specific mechanisms, and not as a general part of authentication.
